Experience of working with third sector organisations
Experience
I have worked with the chief executives of several small third sector organisations (Families in Care, Gateway into the Community, Skills for People and North Tyneside Art Studio) and senior executives in other organisations to help them develop their leadership skills. The references below give an indication of the wide range issues I can help with – eg strategy, business planning, organisational development, performance management, handling new challenges, problem solving, time management. Further references are also available. In each case I held 10-12 one-to-one monthly coaching sessions covering topics of their choice with a follow up session 3 months after the end of the series. They can also ask for further help at any time and some have done so. Significant changes in performance and confidence began to show after 4-5 sessions. Before entering into an agreement to coach, I met prospective coachees` to make sure we could work together and to explain my approach. Sessions are totally private giving the opportunity to explore new approaches and expand horizons in confidence - I do not discuss what happened in the sessions with third parties without the specific permission of the person I am coaching.

North Tyneside Art Studio
"I have been receiving coaching from Pamela Denham, as part of organisational development support provided by Community Ventures, over a period of approximately 12 months. The Bi-monthly sessions with Pamela have been invaluable to me and I have been able to apply the lessons learned through the sessions in moving my organisation forward through a period of great change and development. Coaching was a new experience for me, at times challenging, forcing me to examine many of my own pre-conceptions and attitudes to find solutions to problems. Many of the issues addressed were sensitive or difficult but Pamela’s calm, non-judgemental and methodical approach enabled me to find solutions or alternatives, prioritise effectively and move forward with a new confidence in my own abilities as a manager of a small organisation working with often challenging people in a climate of uncertainty and change. Working with Pamela has been highly beneficial both personally and professionally. I trust her knowledge and judgement and would not hesitate contacting her for further support or recommending her to others."

Families in Care
"I have known Pamela Denham since 2004. Having been introduced to this small local charity through the Community Ventures Initiative Pamela has been consistently supportive of our work with separated and socially excluded families across Tyne and Wear. Pamela’s coaching skills, offered on a one to one basis, enabled me as CEO to consider and explore the changes that were needed to ensure the longer term future of Families in Care. Her patience, sensitivity and non judgmental approach gave me the confidence to talk about challenges related to: staffing, policies, working practices, business planning and funding. In addition I was able to learn from Pamela’s wide range of professional knowledge, skills and experience gained from her years of work with both the statutory and voluntary sector. On reflection Pamela’s input has been invaluable in helping me to develop leadership and management skills. The impact of her contribution to the organisation as a whole has certainly been enduring."
