Experience of working with third sector organisations
Experience
As a co director of MGA, I have been extensively involved with developing projects for the third sector - INCLUDING Arts and Community organisations - over the past 10 years. Experience includes the development of managed workspace as well as the design of community buildings, specifically to cater for diverse groups, realised through funding won from multi agency sources.
I have also been the lead architect for the Phase 1 and 2 Childrens Centre work for Newcastle City Council.
Notable projects which have involved extensive consultation and development work with the third sector include:
Nunsmoor Childrens Centre – shortlisted RICS award 2008
Northern Print - award winning artist studios and gallery
Ashington Coop Feasibility Study
Carbon Neutral office space feasibility for NDFC in Elswick
Ouseburn Community Centre
North Fawdon Childrens Centre
Various projects with PNE
I was also part of the consultancy group with PNE which looked at barriers to development for third sector organisations, prior to the development of the Places for Everyone project.

PNE Group
"Jenny Gillatt has been successfully involved with a wide variety of Third Sector organisations with PNE for over ten years. This has culminated most recently in award winning projects for Woods Pottery and Northern Print in Ouseburn, and Nunsmoor Play Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne. Mosedale Gillatt Architects have an approach based on making sure all aspects of the building process are clearly understood from the outset – and all stakeholders are involved throughout to ensure a sense of ownership with each project."
Reference
Northumberland CC
"Jenny Gillatt worked alongside the council with a range of Third Sector organisations to help realise the potential for the co op building in Ashington. The issues with an existing building can be complicated and limiting but Jenny suggested creative solutions with a clear understanding of the broader issues of management, flexibility and funding."
