Experience of working with third sector organisations
Experience
I have over 20 years experience providing consultancy, evaluation and training. I have a background in social enterprise and co-operatives. I have worked in and been an adviser and consultant developing projects focused on social enterprise and ethical business. I have a strong background and experience in business planning, project and organisational reviews and evaluation and have supported clients to evaluate their work and to build the learning into their plans for the future. I am an experienced facilitator and have supported organisations including the boards and committees to explore issues, develop plans and set objectives and targets. I have a detailed, practical knowledge and understanding of Governance and I have supported organisations across a range of sectors to undertake governance reviews and to develop governance policy and practice. I have worked with a very wide range of voluntary and not for profit sector organisations principally in the north east. I am a registered supplier with Business and Enterprise North East and a supporter for the Community Builders Programme.

Riverside Community Health Project
Rhona Howarth has worked with Riverside Community Health Project as a consultant on a wide range of projects over the past 10 years. "Rhona has worked with the senior staff to develop a business plan for our overall operations, provided training for the board and staff, undertaken a review of the governance, developed a range of governance policies and procedures and assisted the organisation to amend and update our governing document. Rhona always works in a supportive way that brings out the best in people to work together towards shared goals. I personally have learned a lot from her, and am able to put that learning to use in my work as the Manager of a complex voluntary organisation."

Newcastle Society for Blind People
In 2010 Rhona Howarth was the team leader and main consultant working with Newcastle Society for Blind People (NSBP) undertaking a strategic review and developing a business plan for the organisation. This involved working directly with the board of directors (trustees) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) the work also included the delivery of current governance training. "Rhona showed herself to be highly skilled and professional when speaking to the staff, volunteers, service users and external stakeholders all of which have an interest in the work of NSBP. The business plan and strategy was based upon an effective analysis of her findings and was developed in close cooperation with both the CEO and the trustees with whom she was able to develop a close working relationship. Her work for the Society was concluded by the production of a Governance Manual and the training of the Trustees in its delivery. NSBP has benefitted greatly from the work of Rhona and her colleagues; it now has a clear plan for the future and feels well equipped to meet the future challenges facing the Third Sector."
