Sport England Iconic Facilities Fund
There is to be one more Iconic Facilities funding round which will open this autumn with funding between £250,000 and £3 million available to transform the places where people play sport. The fund will support the building of new sports facilities as well as improvements to the now ageing sports facilities built in the late seventies and early eighties, but a key criterion of the fund will be to support facility projects that are sustainable in the long-term. This means Sport England will invest in projects that are able to bring in enough revenue to maintain high standards of facility provision and customer service and a varied programme of sports opportunities and sports development outreach work. Priority will be given to projects with a collaborative or consortia approach.
